A New Perspective

Relocating the BBT Studio was about perspective.

It is about looking back at a 40+ years of practicing architecture in Central Oregon and looking towards opportunities and responsibilities ahead. It is about the design team’s unique perspective and self-reflection on the values of collaboration and curiosity we implement daily with our clients.

Bend has become a hub for people seeking a dynamic work-life relationship filled with energy, creativity, and community. Add a beautiful setting with abundant outdoor recreation to the mix, and the potential to connect people and place is truly special.

The central design concept of the studio focused on fostering multiple perspectives around a shared core – a spatial box surrounded by spaces of varying degrees of openness and connection.

Starting from the entry, one encounters a screened conference room, a versatile multi-purpose room, materials library, transitional collaboration space, and the expansive open office. The movement terminates in a break room that is an informal gathering space for social events, meetings, and introspection. As one moves around the office, the core is always visible, but its expression is constantly changing.

Similar to the studio, embracing diverse perspectives around a shared core is a value of the BBT design practice. With the goal of greater collaboration, the variety of gathering and interaction opportunities encourage staff to be curious, to listen, and share throughout the design process.

With a newfound sense of excitement, we look forward to welcoming the community to our upcoming ribbon cutting to share stories about our people, process, and the space that connects the two.
