Ensworth Elementary School

This 44,000 SF facility was designed as a neighborhood prototypical elementary school that can be reused by the Bend La Pine School District on smaller sites (7 -10 acres).  The design is non-expandable and serves 300 Kindergarten through 5th grade students.  Classrooms are grouped in a two-story design around a media room which features exposed trusses, skylights and large windows for natural daylighting, and a large, open lobby and entry area keeps the building feeling expansive.  The two-building design consists of a main structure that houses administration, lobby, media center and four classroom pods (three classrooms clustered around an activity room).  The second building, connected by a covered walkway, houses the multi-purpose room (which serves as a gym, cafeteria or assembly hall), a stage and music department.  This compact educational facility is reminiscent of a historic red schoolhouse.
